Once you arrive in Mexico, you will need a way to get around. Remember, planning ahead will ensure that you are not surprised by the condition of public transportation or lack of available rental cars. Here are some popular travel options for Mexican vacationers.

Renting a Car

Renting a car is much more expensive in Mexico than in the United States, but it is a possibility. If you absolutely must have your own vehicle, look at the car very carefully before signing the agreement. Make sure any non-working part, scratch, or dent is recorded, because the agents will call you on damage to the car, and you will have to pay. Also, read up on driving etiquette in Mexico, because drivers behave much differently south of the border than they do in America.

Public Transportation

Public transportation is a much more affordable, and often more convenient, option for getting around Mexico. You can get in city buses and metro trains in most major Mexican cities. National buses can take you from one city to another. You will need to brush up on some Spanish to use these public transportation options, and be sure you know here you are getting off before you even board.

Non-Public Bus Service

If the harried public transportation scene is not for you, consider traditional bus service. This is, perhaps, the best way to get around Mexico. Find the maps for the bus lines in your area, and figure out how to get from one destination to the next prior to boarding. You will find professional bus service to be both comfortable and convenient.

Taxis and Private Car Hire

For a more personal transportation option, flag down a taxi or hire private car service. Both are available in most major cities, but this will cost a bit more than public transportation or bus service. However, a taxi or private car can take you right to the door of your resort or attraction, saving you a few steps along the way.

Mexico is an ideal location for an international vacation, as it is one of America’s closest neighbors. You can step into another culture without traveling far from home when you visit Mexico. If a Mexican vacation is in your future, be sure to keep these things in mind.

First, you need to make sure that you follow the country’s entry requirements. Before you leave home you will need to have your photo I.D. and a valid proof of citizenship, such as your birth certificate or a passport. You will also need a Tourist Card to enter the country. This, however, you can obtain at your entry point or at the airport.

Once you receive your Tourist Card, do not lose or damage the bottom portion, which is the part you receive back. The Mexican Immigration officials will need this when you leave the country. Write down the number so that you have it if you do lose the card.

There are some special rules for minors, which are those under the age of 18, who are traveling to Mexico. If they are traveling without their parents, they will need to have the normal documents along with a notarized letter of permission signed by both of their parents. If they are traveling with just one parent, they must have the notarized letter of permission signed by the other parent. If the other parent is no longer a part of the family, legal proof of death or divorce must be present in order for the child to enter the country.

One of the first things you may want to do when you arrive is have your money changed. However, if your travels are limited to border towns, you may be able to pay in dollars for your purchases. If you can, do not change your money, as you will pay a fee to do so.

Once you arrive, you will need a way to get around. You may wish to drive into the country. If you do, make sure you have cash to use at the gas stations. Remember, you will have a service attendant, and they expect to be tipped. The price of gas in Mexico tends to mirror the price in the states. You can also travel by bus if you are staying in one particular city. If you do, choose a First Class bus so that you will be as comfortable as possible. You can travel by train if you will be moving from city to city, but this can get a little pricey.

The best time to go to Las Vegas on vacation is in the spring or fall. Winters can be a bit cool and it has been known to snow as well. Even though it can be chilly during the winter this doesn’t stop partiers from flocking to Las Vegas for New Years Eve. Prices on vacation packages and hotels tend to be a bit cheaper in during the winter months as well. So if you haven’t been to Vegas it might be a good time to go and check it out for less money.

While taking your Las Vegas vacation there are many attractions, events and ways to lose your money. Gambling with either cards or slots is an excellent way to lose your money if that is why you are going. However, if you want to do some sightseeing; then there is plenty to do.

There are many tours available in Las Vegas and many of them are part of vacation specials or packages. There are jeep and bus tours to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon and Death Valley. If you are looking for something a little more adventurous than you can schedule a river rafting or horseback riding outing.

When traveling to Las Vegas for vacation there are many ways to get around. Renting a car isn’t necessary but you might want to avoid walking if you can do the heat that can reach up to 120 degrees. While in Vegas remember there are many options for transportation, including bus services to most areas, taxis to any location in town, trolleys and a monorail system that runs from the Convention Center to the MGM Grand Casino on the strip.

No matter what you do in Las Vegas while on vacation remember “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”
